The FFC (Francis Ford Coppola) model is a remarkable fusion of horological innovation and cinematic artistry. It was born from a collaboration between the legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and master watchmaker François-Paul Journe, which stemmed from a 2012 discussion where they insightfully explored the overlap between horology and human anatomy. After a rigorous two-year artistic reflection period followed by seven years of intensive mechanical development overcoming numerous technical challenges, the model inspired by Coppola’s signature suspenseful filmmaking style finally came to life. This watch features an articulated mechanical hand that displays the hours, with fingers adjusting positions to indicate time—a concept inspired by dactylonomy, the ancient practice of counting with fingers. Every 60 minutes the fingers magically come to life, appearing or disappearing instantaneously to indicate the time according to their positions. Housed in a 42.00 mm platinum case with a 10.80 mm thickness, the FFC id powered by a manually wound movement that includes an in-line lever escapement, balance with inertia weights and a flat Anachron spring, emphasizing precision while encapsulating otherworldly creative energy.
